Arsenal can emulate Kylian Mbappe’s success after Bukayo Saka award nomination – Bailey Keogh

Bukayo Saka has been a revelation since leaving Hale End Academy ahead of the 2019/2020 season.

Before turning 20, the winger had made 92 appearances for Arsenal, placing him in the top five of games played as a teenager for the club.

These excellent performances during this time saw him be called up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for EURO 2020, where the team reached the final.

And Saka’s display in this tournament saw him be nominated for the 2021 Kopa Trophy which has already been won by French star Kylian Mbappe.

The Kopa trophy was organized by France football and is the youth version of the Ballon d’Or. It was first presented in 2018 when Mbappe received this honor.

This year, Saka was nominated along with Pedri, Mason Greenwood and Jude Bellingham.

This bodes well for the Gunners as the 20-year-old is with an excellent cry for the award, showing the north London club potentially have some of the best young talent in world football.

Since Saka’s debut three years ago, he has contributed 12 goals and 21 assists. This is very impressive considering the 20-year-old has been deployed as left-back and left-back 23 times.

He seems to grow from season to season and proof of that was brought to light in the recent North London Derby victory over Spurs.

He was exceptional in collecting a goal and an assist in a 3-1 result, showing he had put the team on their backs at such a young age – recalling 2018 Kopa Trophy winner Kylian Mbappe.

Since winning the trophy, Mbappe has grown into a world drummer and is already in the conversation as the world’s best player just three years after receiving the honor.

This will provide great motivation for the Arsenal youngster if he succeeds after the nomination.

Kylian Mbappe received the Kopa Trophy during the 2018 Ballon d’Or award ceremony.

Saka doesn’t have the same scoring talent as the Frenchman, but he has the same dynamism and attacking threat in the final third due to his pace coinciding with skill.

The ceiling is dizzying for the youngster and the presentation of the trophy will finally give the “little pepper” the recognition it deserves.
