Arsenal transfers: Middlesbrough wants Folarin Balogun; Eddie Nketiah’s Position Unchanged | Football news

Middlesbrough is one of several clubs in the Sky Bet Championship interested in loaning Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun on loan.

Balogun has not been in the Premier League since August, but is still part of Arsenal’s long-term plans and signed a new contract in April which binds him to the club until 2025.

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder tried to sign the 20-year-old New York-born player in 2020 while in charge of Sheffield United.

Balogun is also attracting interest from Europe, with the French Ligue 1 team Saint-Etienne monitoring its situation.

Arsenal academy manager Per Mertesacker hinted last month that Balogun, who has made a total of 10 first-team appearances in all competitions, would be on loan in January.

The Soccer Special panel is embarking on a heated debate over the future of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah, the 22-year-old due to be out of contract this summer.

Nketiah free to talk with foreign clubs

Meanwhile, there is no change in the situation for forward Eddie Nketiah at Emirates Stadium.

Nketiah, who scored a hat-trick in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup win over Sunderland last month, turned down the club’s latest contract offer and is now able to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club.

January is Arsenal’s last chance to cash in on the 22-year-old, although he would receive compensation even if he left with a free transfer.

A permanent sale in January has not been ruled out, although Nketiah’s services may be required as disgraced former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already left on an African Cup of Nations mission with Gabon.
