Midwest Bank of Detroit Lakes has added Andy McCombs to its staff as a commercial loan officer.
McCombs, a Minnesota State graduate, has 10 years of banking experience and was most recently employed at Alerus Financial in Fargo. McCombs lives in Detroit Lakes with his wife Kelsey and their three children.
Midwest Bank is an independent, locally owned community bank with offices located in the midwestern Minnesota communities of Detroit Lakes, Callaway, Waubun, Barnesville, Parkers Prairie and Dalton.
Dr Mathew Malek has joined the Sanford Health Detroit Lakes Clinic and Surgery Center. Malek specializes in general surgery and trauma.
Malek spent his residency at the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, SD. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota and then attended the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences School of Medicine.

Malek strives to have a “whole person understanding” with patients – not to deal with the diagnosis but to treat the individual patient with the diagnosis. He believes collaboration with patients is essential to develop treatment plans for each unique case.
In his spare time, Malek enjoys spending time with his wife and children and enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, hunting, water sports and ice hockey.
On August 3, Dr. Lance Doeden and nurse practitioner Melisha Vannett began providing pain awareness services at Sanford Health Detroit Lakes and the Same Day Surgery Center.

Doeden specializes in the management of pain, particularly in the lower back and neck or resulting from cancer and compression fractures, focusing on the opioid-free management of chronic and cancer pain to provide excellent care to patients.
Doeden attended the University of North Dakota’s Grand Forks School of Medicine, and did his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center at Omaha. He also received a Pain Management Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. It is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Nurse practitioner Melisha Vannett specializes in pain management, treatment of back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia and other chronic painful conditions. It provides a thorough assessment of a patient’s medical history, a physical examination, and other services such as ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests and promoting health maintenance. She did her graduate studies at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.
