Comcast NBCUniversal Selects 12 Startups for Fifth LIFT Labs Accelerator, Powered by Techstars

PHILADELPHIA CREAM–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Comcast today announced the startups selected for the fifth Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs Accelerator, powered by Techstars. These 12 companies, chosen from hundreds of applicants from more than 30 countries, have been identified for their potential to revolutionize industries in the accelerator’s main areas of interest, including connected living, immersive and inclusive experiences and digital. smart and sustainable company.

Class of 2022 is creating breakthrough technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) applications ready to innovate in entertainment, gaming, video shopping, metaverse, visual content licensing, web3 industries, connectivity and of employee experience. Founders from Canada, France, the United Kingdom and cities in the United States of Philadelphia, Boston, New York and San Francisco will participate in this immersive 12-week program hosted at the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. Half (50%) of the companies selected are led by at least one founder who identifies as a person of color or a racial/ethnic minority in their country of origin, while a third (33%) are led by a woman or a diverse founding gender.

Since first class in 2018, 43 companies have completed the Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs Accelerator and raised over $115 million combined. Additionally, over 70% have secured proof of concepts, pilots or commercial agreements with Comcast, NBCUniversal and Sky.

More than 100 experts and industry leaders from Comcast NBCUniversal and Sky will mentor this year’s startups. Advisors include leaders from the Xfinity technology, product and experience teams; broadcast stations NBC and Telemundo; NBCUniversal cable networks; Universal Studios; Universal theme parks; DreamWorks Animation; Comcast Company; Comcast Ventures; Strategic development; and Sky; as well as mentors from Techstars’ extensive global network.

Joining these mentors will be Cohn, Luke Butler, Executive Director, Startup Engagement, and KJ Singh, Managing Director, Techstars, who will lead the 2022 Acceleration Program. The experienced team will guide startups through workshops on business model development, pilot and proof of concept development, fundraising, marketing, media interaction and KPI definition.
