GB News has been touted as an alternative news channel to its rivals, offering voices to less popular views and providing news to “large numbers of Brits who feel underserved and unheard” by news channels existing televisions.
Ex-BBC Andrew Neil announced the new channel at the end of 2020 and said: âWe have seen a huge gap in the market for a new form of TV news.
âGB News is the most exciting thing that has happened on UK TV news for over 20 years.
“We will champion a strong and balanced debate and a range of views on the issues that affect everyone in the UK, not just those who live in the London area.”

While there have been rumors that Piers Morgan is joining GB News, neither GB News nor Morgan have confirmed that he will be joining the channel.
The North East GB News reporter is the former GMB Breakfast Presenter for ITV Tyne Tees and Border Rachel Sweeney who had worked for ITV Tyne Tees for 13 years.
She enthusiastically tweeted about the channel ahead of launch and said she believed the North East had “a lot to shout about” and that she would “put the North on the map.”
The channel was largely funded by the American Discovery channel, the rest comes from Dubai-based investment firm Legatum and hedge fund manager Sir Paul Marshall.
When will GB News launch?
GB News will go live on Sunday June 13 at 8 p.m. with a special “Welcome to GB News” program.
GB News will be available from June 13 on Freeview 236, Sky HD 515, Virgin Media HD 626, YouView 236, Freesat HD 216 and online on the GB News website.
