HBCU Tailgate Tour 2021 starts at Aggie-Eagle

The HBCU Tailgate Tour, the experiential tailgate celebration of HBCU culture launched in 2018, will be back in person this fall at seven of HBCU’s biggest football games. Last fall, the HBCU Tailgate Tour, like many 2020 events, moved to a virtual format called The HBCU Virtual Tailgate Series. With the return of HBCU football and fans this fall, the tour is set to offer HBCU fans, students and alumni a one-of-a-kind Tailgate experience.

Much like years past, this fall’s tour will feature some of the most intriguing brands and partnerships throughout the seven stops. Partners such as GEICO, Xfinity and Microsoft will join in the fun of this year as each has made significant progress this year towards their goal of expanding engagement with the HBCU community and the African American consumer segment. As a first-time attendee, Xfinity will raise awareness about its new products, Xfinity Mobile and Xfinity Flex in the Tailgate Zone. Microsoft, the technology and device leader, will give HBCU fans an exclusive virtual preview of a few back-home halftime shows from HBCU in October. New to the HBCU space, Ethika apparel will also join this year’s tour with special guests, national recording artists as well as iconic Ethika items such as their boxers and underwear at each stop. As the country continues to grapple with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HBCU Tailgate Tour hopes to make every experience a safe one. With the distribution of face masks and several sanitation stations, the goal is to provide an exciting and high-energy experience, but also to be responsible and safe while doing so. Of course, what tailgate party would be complete without games and music, right? Hip-Hop Curator and DJ, DJ Holiday and HBCU MC “Kyle-On-The-Mic” will host each week and as in the past, HBCU culture, family, entertainment, heritage and tradition will be at the premier plan every week. .

FOX Soul is also new to the 2021 Tour. FOX Soul, a new streaming platform dedicated to African American entertainment, was launched in 2020. With just over 2 million subscribers, FOX Soul will host the 2021 HBCU Tailgate Tour Road Show presented by Microsoft. An hour-long show that will take fans into HBCU culture every week through the lens of Tailgate Experience. Hosted by HBCU alumnus Kellie Wells-Brinkley and Jhaliel Thurman, every Saturday live from the Tailgate area. Radio personalities Jaycee of 92.Q in Baltimore, MD, B-Daht of 102 Jamz in Greensboro, NC and the HBCU team Gameday will virtually join Wells-Brinley and Thurman this fall with their weekly takes on sport, culture, politics and entertainment.

The tour will start this Saturday September 25e in Greensboro, NC as North Carolina Central visits longtime rival North Carolina A&T. Each week, the HBCU Tailgate Tour will announce the next location on Tuesday with a special guest. Connect to FOX Soul weekly to find out, and connect to HCBUTailgateTour.com, HBCUBuzz.com, and HBCUGameday.com for the weekly whereabouts announcements.
