Launches: SpaceX Starlink launches for September

Launch of Starlink on September 24

by SpaceX Fourth Stellar Link the month’s launch is currently scheduled for 23:32 UTC (7:32 p.m.) on September 24, 2022. The Starlink Group 4-35 mission will launch 52 Starlink satellites atop a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. After liftoff, viewers can anticipate Falcon 9’s first stage return to Earth on the drone A lack of seriousness. On liftoff, it will mark the 177th launch of the private company’s Falcon 9. Wow!

Look for a train of lights

After launch, you can check if Starlink satellites will pass over your area by using the Find the Starlink website. After every Starlink launch, the internet is buzzing with people asking, “What’s that long line of light in the sky that looks like a train?” What you see are Starlink satellites moving to a higher orbit. You can read more about them here.

The sixth time is the charm

A few days before – after a five-day period of uncooperative weather – at 00:18 UTC on September 19, SpaceX launched 54 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral in Florida. You can watch it in the tweet below. This mission, Starlink 4-34 was also launched atop a Falcon 9. On takeoff, the launch marked SpaceX’s 68th consecutive landing: a new record!

In total, SpaceX has one more scheduled for the month, bringing the total on its agenda to five launches. Keep reading to learn more about Starlink’s September 2022 launches.

Growing numbers amid controversy

According to Wikipedia, in September 2022, SpaceX launched more than 3,000 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit, but not all of them remained operational. Astronomer Jonathan McDowell from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (@planet4589 on Twitter) maintains a Web page tracking Starlink statistics, and as of September 5, 2022, it reported 3,076 operational Starlink satellites.

Love ’em or hate ’em, these Starlink satellites are part of SpaceX’s vision for global internet communication constellation of satellites. They provide high-speed Internet service around the world, primarily in locations where ground-based Internet is unreliable, unavailable, or expensive. Starlink currently has around 500,000 subscribers. The private company is well known for launching consecutive batches, several times a month, regularly launching 60 satellites at once. And SpaceX plans to reach maybe as many as 30,000 eventually.

Many thought seeing the first Starlink satellites traveling together across the night sky was exciting. But others have been launched, and even more. And astronomers began to worry.

Because Starlinks are bright, astronomers say they photobomb astronomical images. They interfere with the professional astronomical observations that have brought us our modern view of the cosmos. And while SpaceX has tried to fix the problem, they’re falling short of what astronomers say is acceptable.

Conclusion: SpaceX has five Starlink launches scheduled for September 2022. The fourth, Starlink Group 4-35, will take off at 23:32 UTC on September 24, 2022, from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
