PLDT’s Cignal Cable acquires 38.88% of Sky Cable

Cignal Cable, owned by PLDT, has entered into an agreement with Sky Vision, ABS-CBN and Lopez for the acquisition of 38.88% of the total issued and outstanding capital of Sky Cable, a leading company providing Cable TV and Broadband. under the Sky Cable brand, for a total consideration of Php2.862Bn.

Sky Cable’s investment by Cignal Cable is expected to benefit the former’s existing customer base of over 300,000 cable subscribers and nearly 350,000 broadband subscribers by the end of June 2022. This will allow Sky Cable to significantly expand its coverage, offers and services. It will also allow Sky Cable to expand its broadband reach and capacity in support of the government’s plan to prioritize the development of the country’s digital infrastructure, reaching more of the Filipino population. and providing them with greater choice for their content and Internet needs.

Cignal Cable believes its entry into Sky Cable will strengthen and enhance its utility offerings. Currently, Sky Cable operates Knowledge Channel, which offers educational programs for children, and DepEd Channel, which offered distance learning to young Filipinos during the pandemic in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Culture. Cignal Cable plans to expand the utility programs that will be offered by Sky Cable to help the government provide utility services to Filipinos, especially in remote areas.
