Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to attend Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations but will be excluded from balcony appearance

The Queen released a bombshell statement banning Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew from the balcony of Buckingham Palace during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have confirmed they will attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on June 2 with their two children Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana.

The Queen is due to meet her great-granddaughter Lili, who will celebrate her first birthday on June 4 for the first time.

“Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted and honored to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June with their children,” a statement from the couple wrote.

The announcement came shortly after Queen Elizabeth announced that only working members of the Royal Family will appear for the traditional Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as Prince Andrew, who is no longer a member of the royal family after his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, will not appear on the balcony.

“After careful consideration, The Queen has decided that this year’s traditional Balcony Trooping the Color appearance on Thursday 2 June will be limited to Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family who are currently carrying out official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said.

Family members appearing on the palace balcony will be the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie.

The Duke of Kent, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra will also attend.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the monarch and Prince Charles at Windsor Castle en route to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands on April 16.

The reunion follows the couple absent from Prince Philip’s memorial service for “security concerns” last month.

Prince Harry said it was “so nice” to see his grandmother and said she was in great shape.

“Being with her was awesome. It was so nice to see her…she’s in great shape,” he said in a chat with NBC Today Show host Hoda Kotb.

“She always has such a good sense of humor around me and I just make sure she’s protected and has the right people around her.

“Meghan and I had tea with her, so it was really nice catching up with her.”
