Virgin Media wants to boost your broadband even if you use Sky or BT

Virgin Media wants to help boost the signal around your home even if you are using a competing Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as Sky, TalkTalk, or BT. The UK broadband provider just announced that it is working with a company called Plume to bring a bunch of bonus features to all UK broadband customers, even if they can’t or won’t use Virgin.

The smart service, called HomePass, includes many features such as a self-optimizing WiFi network that ensures the signal is always working at its best potential. For those with larger properties, there are booster pods that can be plugged into any room to ensure that every corner of a property has a solid connection to the web.

A Pod comes standard with customers who can then purchase additional boosters if they need them.

And that’s not all, as Virgin also promises that its HomePass smart home service can offer in-home motion detection for added security with instant alerts sent directly to a smartphone if something, or someone, is. spotted inside a property.
